The Londonderry Volunteer Rescue Squad (LVRS) and the squad’s Rescue Department recently received two grants from Londonderry’s Thrifty Attic.

LVRS responds to almost 500 calls annually and keeping squad members safe and healthy is a critical component of LVRS’s mission. Ensuring rescuers’ safety at motor vehicle accident scenes, rescue operations, at night and in bad weather is paramount. With the help of one Thrifty Attic grant, LVRS has purchased new “High Visibility” duty jackets for all members. These jackets are neon yellow and offer 360° of reflective striping and can be easily and clearly seen at all times and especially at night.

LVRS has also purchased a new End-Tidal Carbon Dioxide Monitor that will allow the squad to provide state of the art and “standard of care” monitoring for patients who need to be intubated and improve the treatment of patients with asthma and other respiratory problems.

The Thrifty Attic has been supporting local organizations for more than 40 years and LVRS has a long history of support from the Thrifty Attic.

LVRS serves the tri-mountain towns of Landgrove, Londonderry, Peru, South Londonderry, Stratton, Weston, Windham, Bondville, Winhall and parts of Jamaica.
